Vegetables and fruit production
Aware of the all forms of energy price increasing trend and in order to use the excess emitted heat generated as a by-product of the operation of the biogas plant, we have built greenhouse complexes on an area of over 30 ha distributed in three locations.
Greenhouse production of tomatoes and cucumbers takes place at three locations – in Ivankovo, Tomašanci and Viškovci – on an area of 30 ha. In order to follow the trends and needs of our customers and further improve our production, we are building two additional greenhouses for the production of lettuce and seedlings with the latest LED cultivation technology.
Modern production of vegetables in protected areas implies the use of optimal conditions for plant growth and development in order to achieve maximum yields and the highest quality of products. We are proud to highlight the application of the latest technological developments such as:
- use of carbon dioxide generated as a by-product of the operation of cogeneration devices for the electricity production
- dehumidification system, i.e., air exchange that allows control of relative humidity with significant thermal energy savings of up to 40%
- automatic recording of employee work and phytomonitoring and
- automation of the system by manipulating and confectioning finished products per harvest.
Apart from protected areas, vegetables are grown on 37 ha of open area in Đurđevac.
In our own orchard in Đurđevac, on 85 ha, we grow apples, and in greenhouses, on 3 ha, we grow strawberries.
During the season we buy different fruits and vegetables in Đurđevac, all in order to make the most of our capacities and offer our customers wide selection.
Concentrated on the end consumer and the quality of human nutrition, we highlight the advantages of our production and logistics:
- fresh and quality vegetables throughout the year
- production under controlled conditions
- adequate storage
- organized distribution
- domestic production
Produced vegetables and fruits are put on the market under the Vego brand. With the slogan „Choose fresh. Choose Croatian! “30,000 tons of fresh vegetables and fruits are placed on the market.
